1.      PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

I'm so sorry I haven't been able to produce an SCSC E-News since early November.  It is looking like we'll be seeing our e-newsletters being distributed usually monthly due to my other obligations.  Because there will be less frequent SCSC E-Newsletters, they will likely be a bit longer.

Despite our up and down football team's performance, FSU is going to play in the Music City Bowl on December 31st.  The website is www.musiccitybowl.com and tickets may be available at www.seminole.com.  If you need assistance with ordering tickets online, please contact the Seminole Ticket office at 850-644-1830.

Our Vice President, Tennie Wiggins, organized a super SCSC Holiday Party for the San Diego area NOLES which was held on Saturday, December 1st at the Rock Bottom Brewery & Restaurant located in La Jolla.  The food was great, the location superb, and the company – well nothing short of fantastic!  Tennie, thanks for all the great work.

3.      NEWS FROM SCSC MEMBERS AND FSU ALUMS

·         Stephen Borasch wrote that he has a project coming out with Lions Gate who hired him to direct a music video that will be featured on the SAW III Director's Cut DVD that was released on October 23rd.  The video is for the band Hydrovibe, who was also featured on the SAW III soundtrack.  Shawnee Smith (Amanda from the Saw franchise) performs as a guest vocalist in the video as well.  The video has also been released on the band's website and myspace.  See also www.hydrovibe.com; www.myspace.com/hydrovibe; www.myspace.com/sdborash

·         Russ Busby, former SCSC President, updates us on his recovery from his auto accident.  You may remember that on October 26th, 2006, Russ was hit by a car while visiting Washington, D.C.  Three surgeries later, they are scheduling one more for next year to remove all metal which was being used to hold the five breaks in the two bones in place.

·         Erika Miachak writes that she recently launched a "Green" Real Estate Brokerage, Verde Realty.  She lives in Santa Monica and her office is in Manhattan Beach.  They are licensed to list and sell property throughout Southern and Central California.  Her business partner is a Gator Alumni; however Erika says they won't hold that against her.  Erika wants to let FSU alums know that any real estate business they can refer to her would be greatly appreciated.  Their goal is to educate both Buyers and Seller about green building, construction, and changes individual homeowners can implement (such as ways to reduce electrical bills, water bills, and increase indoor air quality).  She can be reached at 310-740-5815 or send her an e-mail at Erika@verde-realty.com.

·         A Request from Sacramento area alum, Bob Fiore.  (Sheila ran into Bob at the Las Vegas Seminole Viewing Site in October.)  Bob is asking for some help and thought that there might be an area NOLE who could help him.  His daughter has asked him if he knows anyone in the movie business because her physical education teacher had mentioned something about a dodgeball tournament and having one of the stars from the Dodgeball movie.  Bob's daughter asked him if he could help get Justin Long from the movie Dodgeball to go to her school.  So, knowing it's a stretch, is there anyone out there in Southern California NOLE-land that can help Bob contact Justin Long?  Bob can be reached at 925-989-0735.

·         We want YOUR News Here!  Please send your news (personal, business, whatever) to Sheila Riley to be included in our next E-Newsletter.  Send to sheilaandruss@aol.com.  Please, send us some information so we're not just reporting on the FSU alums out here in the Entertainment Industry.  We want to report on what our Entertainment Alums are doing.  We also want to report on what lots of alums are doing.  We want to report on lots of various Nole activities here in SoCal!

4.      NEWS FROM FSU – WHAT'S COOKING

FSU Launches Initiative to Increase Number of Math and Science Teachers.  Supported by $5.15 million in grant money and state matching funds, FSU has announced a new initiative designed to give a major boost to math and science education in Florida's schools.  (More information may be available at www.fsu.com.) FSU Researcher:  Florida has fewer physicians than previous estimated.  The largest set of information ever collected about Florida's physician workforce suggests there are far fewer doctors practicing in the state that previous believed, according to FSU College of Medicine researchers.  (More information may be available at www.fsu.com.) FSU Student Body President, Joseph O'Shea, is a Rhodes Scholar.  At age 21, FSU senior and Student Body President, Joseph O'Shea, has founded a free health clinic in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward, led a coalition for healthcare reform in Leon County, and co-founded an international service-based exchange program for students worldwide.  Now, O'Shea can add "Rhodes Scholar" to his already exceptional resume.  (More information may be available at www.fsu.com.) Act Now:  Your vote for Warrick Dunn is a vote for FSU.  Home Depot and the NFL are naming their Neighborhood MVP of the Year, and FSU alum, Warrick Dunn, is in the running.  FSU fans and alumni can help him with the title by voting online:  www.shopandwin.homedepot.com or though the Warrick Dunn Foundations home page:  www.warrickdunnfooundation.org.  (More information may be available at www.fsu.com.) From The Warren Report:

From Wade Stuckwisch (MFA '06):  "Looks like two of my roommates are moving out in late December/early January, which means I have two available bedrooms in my 3 bed/2 bath apartment in Santa Monica….Current arrangement is $760 for the room with the attached bathroom and parking space and $750 for the room without, but that could be flexible if everyone agrees to different terms.  E-mail me at wade@twilighskyline.com.  I'd like to have at least one new roommate lined up by December 1st.   By the way, if anyone is looking for a new roommate, I might be available if I can't find anyone new to move into my place."

The Travel Channel Show, "10 Things You Don't Know will debut on Wednesday, December 19th at 8:00 pm.  The Circus will be featured on the premier episode which focuses on unusual and unknown things abut the state of Florida.  Be sure to check it out.

From Andre Gordon (FSU alum):   "I opened a branch of Voice over Demo Production within my film production company, Demos in LA.  Cost about 1200 – 2100 dollars.  We are doing them for 650!  I am a voice actor for William Morris, and I have a series and I have teamed up with other established directors from other agencies (VOS and SBV).  We are offering an FSU discount of ten percent off and I was wondering if you could pass this link on!  It's to our web page with samples of demos already done, answers to frequently asked questions and scheduling info! We have been busy but I think every one should have the opportunity to have a demo done … Thanks!  www.myspace.com/soundbusinessvoicedemos"
