1.      PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Since football season is less than a month away, we've added our viewing sites and the table to record our scores.  This information is Item # 7 in the SCSC News.

2.      SUPPORT FSU

To increase your support of Florida State University, please join these organizations:

·         Become a member of the FSU Alumni Association by going to www.alumni.fsu.edu.  Click on membership.  You can join online.  The annual cost is $35.00/individual or $45.00/joint membership.  Better yet, take out a life membership for $650/individual or $750/joint.  This can be paid via 10 payments.

·         Become a Seminole Booster by going to www.seminole-boosters.com.  Membership begins at $65.00 for an Iron Arrow and go to thousands, for those who have the dough.  You can  join online.

3.      UPCOMING SCSC BOARD ELECTIONS

Believe it or not, it will soon be time for our SCSC Board elections.  There are three people on our SCSC Board whose terms expire December 31, 2007.  At least two of those folks have indicated that they wish to seek re-election to the Board.  Several folks stated an interest in serving on the SCSC Board when they completed the SCSC Membership Form.

SCSC Secretary, Jeff Hyde, will be coordinating this year's SCSC elections.  Jeff has been given a copy of the membership forms of folks who indicated an interest in serving on the Board.  He will be contacting those folks.  If you are interested in serving as an SCSC Board member, please contact Jeff ASAP at his e-mail address:  wjhydefsu@aol.com.  Ballots will go out by October 31st to all folks who have paid dues since August 1st, 2006.  So, if you want to vote and haven't paid your dues since then, you'll want to go to our website and click on Membership and print out the form.

4.      NEWS FROM SCSC MEMBERS AND FSU ALUMS

·         Henry Simonds writes that the documentary that he has been working on for the last two years on the FSU football team and coach, Bobby Bowden, is in post-production.  A trailer has just posted on You Tube.  To check it out, go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgzitcD5aGO.  Henry can be reached at hsimonds@earthlink.net for more information.   Unfortunately, I was unable to "reach" this link.  Perhaps our readers will have more luck.

·         Michele Ramirez Seeking Football Tickets.  Michelle writes that she is seeking tickets for the FSU vs. Alabama game in Jacksonville.  Anyone who can help her get tickets can contact her via e-mail at maramirez@cox.net.  Michelle says thanks.

·         Dimitri Diatchenko of DareDevil Entertainment Sent Us Highlights of His Fantastic Career!  In February, 2005, he landed his first leading man role in the WWII story, "Miriam", with co-star Arianna Savalas.  In it, he plays Alexi, the warm-hearted KGB agent who falls in love with Miriam and marries her despite her Jewish heritage, protects her from the post WWII bigotry and is killed for his efforts.  In June, 2006, Dimitri booked the leading Russian Mafia boss, Sergei Kraisolv, on the series, "Desire: Table for Three" on My Network where he was in 10 episodes, working with the Italian mob until he was busted by the FBI.  In December, 2006, he booked a guest star in the hot, new USA network TV series, "Burn Notice" as Boris, the Russian mafia boss in Lagos, Nigeria.  Boris extorts money from the oil companies by threatening them for protection money for their pipeline safety.  In March, 2007, Dimitri booked guest starring roles on two of the hottest CBS episodes, "Criminal Minds" and "Shark".  In "Criminal Minds" he plays Lyov Fulenko, a renegade Russian mafia captain who kidnaps other Russian immigrants for ransom.  In "Shark" he plays Gavin Lundy, a wealthy nightclub owner/loan shark who kills an employee who decides to back out of an illegal assignment which entails hacking into the D.A.'s (James Woods), computer.  Dimitri will also be appearing in the comedy film, "Remarkable Power", with Tom Arnold, Kip Pardue and Kevin Nealan, as Ivan, the Czech porn director.   This film has been accepted into the Toronto Film Festival and will be released in theaters following its festival appearances.  Dimitri's performance of his original composition for solo guitar entitled, "Tango en Paraiso" will be part of the soundtrack of this film.  Mel Bay Publications has publishing this piece in a book called, "Master Anthology of New Classic Guitar Solos, Vol. 1", which is available worldwide.  Presently, Dimitri is working on the Steven Spielberg/George Lucas production entitled, "The Genre Project", which is "Indiana Jones 4".  In this epic feature film, Dimitri is one of the main villains who is in hot pursuit of Indiana Jones from the beginning of the film to the end.  Due to the secrecy of this project, no more can be said about Dimitri's role or the plot line of the film.  You'll just have to go see it in theaters in May, 2008.  Since 1999, Dimitri has recorded four solo guitar CD's that are available both on www.dimitrid.com and on CD baby and Amazon.com.  When he's not working on an acting job he teaches guitar privately, does studio gigs, and performs as a soloist and occasionally with local bands who need a lead guitarist to "lay it down".  Visit Dimitri at www.dimitrid.com

·         We want YOUR News Here!  Please send your news (personal, business, whatever) to Sheila Riley to be included in our next E-Newsletter.  Send to sheilaandruss@aol.com.  Please, send us some information so we're not just reporting on the FSU alums out here in the Entertainment Industry.  We want to report on what our Entertainment Alums are doing.  We also want to report on what lots of alums are doing.  We want to report on lots of various Nole activities here in SoCal!

6.      FOOTBALL ISN'T THE ONLY SPORT AT FSU

From the July 31st edition of the OSECOLA, page 6, "If Florida State University director of athletics Dave Hart Jr. finishes his current contract, he will have been the top man in Seminoles athletics for 14 years. But, as of now, he will not get a chance for a 15th.  FSU president T.K. Weatherall informed Hart in a letter dated May 29 that his contract, which expires in January, 209, will not be renewed."
