In January, I got an assignment on a rewrite for a Terrence Malick/Ed Pressman project called "Marfa Lights". I've recently been hired on to write a project for director Simon West through his Paramount based production company. I've been meeting with managers and agents but I haven't signed yet. For students in FSU's Valencia program, ancient history is more than a class. It's the experience of living, eating, sleeping, studying, and socializing in the shelter of the stones of a thousand-year-old city wall that's a part of the new Valencia Study Center. The program celebrated its 10th anniversary with the university's celebrated International Programs. (More information may be available at www.fsu.com.) Director of FSU Student Health Center Is New President of American College Health Association. Longtime health care executive Lesley K. Sacher, the director of FSU's Thagard student Health Center, has been named president of the American College Health Association (ACHA) for the 2007-08 academic year. The ACHA also has honored Sacher by selecting her as a Fellow, the highest distinction awarded by the association. (More information may be available at www.fsu.com.) 5. Women's Volleyball 9/7/2007 – 9/8/2007 Tournament in Long Beach The FSU Women's Volleyball Team will be playing in a tournament at Long Beach State. Baseball 07/09/07 FSU Places League Best: 7 Student-Athletes on All-ACC Academic Team FSU led the league with a school record of seven student-athletes on this year's team including seniors Travis Anderson, Bryan Henry and Michael Hyde; juniors Mark Gildea and Mark Halberg; and sophomores Tommy Oraveta and Buster Posey. Men's Tennis 07/11/07 Cloer Wins Singles Title, Deye/O'Shea Take Doubles Chris Cloer (Brevard, NC) made it look easy for most of the tournament, but teammate Michael O'Shea (Boca Raton, Fl) pushed him to the limit as Cloer captured the '07 ITA Summer Circuit men's singles title. Women's Tennis 07/03/07 Slater & Macfarlane Named to '07 All-ACC Academic Team To top off an outstanding season for FSU, sr. Nicola Slater (Ayr, Scotland) and freshman Lauren Macfarlane (Ogden, Utah) were named to the 2007 All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team. Women's Softball 07/11/07 FSU Leads all Schools with 6 Members on All-ACC Academic Team The Noles are one of the top teams in the ACC academically. FSU tied Ga. Tech for a conference-best 6 selections to the All-ACC Academic Softball Team. Women's Golf 07/12/07 Noles Golfers Named to All-American Scholar Athlete Team FSU golfers Whitney Brummett, Jaclyn Burch and Caroline Westrup have been named to the National Golf Coaches' Assn. Scholar Athlete Team. Women's Basketball 07/05/07 Semrau's Contract Extended Through 2012 Coming off of a program-best 3rd straight NCAA Tournament appearance and the program's first Sweet Sixteen appearance, FSU Director of Athletics, Dave Hart, Jr., has announced that women's basketball head coach, Sue Semrau's contract has been extended through the 2011-2012 season.
