PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:
I’m so sorry that
once again I’m really late with our newsletter and I haven’t been able to
produce an SCSC E-News since mid-December. Right after New Year’s I got
“the bug” and am still not totally recovered. I hope you had a wonder
Holiday and a super New Year.
Now that we’re in
2008, a reminder that dues are due the first of each year. So, that means
that it’s probably time to pay your 2008 dues. The very good news is that
some folks have already paid their 2008 dues and we thank you so very
much. If you paid dues anytime since August 1, 2007, youre dues for 2008
are paid. If not, we hope to hear from you soon. Please go to our
website and click on membership. You’ll be able to print a copy of the
membership form and send in your dues. We hope to hear from you
soon!

NEWS FROM SCSC MEMBERS AND FSU
ALUMS
·
Tara and Jamie Haskell, new to the
San Diego area
from the east coast, are FSU alums and big supporters of FSU and the sports
programs, especially the Ice Hockey Team. You say, “What Ice Hockey
Program?” Jamie played for the team while at FSU and coached the team for
the 05-06 and 06-07 seasons. The team is celebrating its 10th
anniversary this season, a big deal considering that there is no longer an ice
arena in Tallahassee. The team is student-run and
is minimally funded by FSU. It is a club sport and the team’s “home” ice
is in Orlando. They play teams all over the SE
and drive their own vehicles and pay for everything themselves. Every year
the team participates in a large tournament in Savannah, GA.
The other teams involved are Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Florida. The games
are January 18th & 19th, 2008. For more
information, please go to their website: www.noleshockey.com. Tara can be reached at tartay0211@msn.com
·
Dimitri Diatchenko notes that he plays the
role of “IVAN”, the porn director “Remarkable Power”, a film being screened by
the Santa Barbara Film Festival Committee on Saturday, January 26th
at the Metro 4 Theater (618 State
Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101) as part of the Santa Barbara
Film Festival. Additionally one of his original solo guitar compositions
is part of the soundtrack and it is used during a funny body snatching scene.
Dimitri notes that in addition to himself, also staring are Kevin Nealan, Tom
Arnold, Kip Pardue, Chris Titus, and Bob Sapp.
